 The Gimlitxwit comprises of approximately 55-60 Simgiigyat. We try to meet on a monthly basis, however this year we have been doing quarterly meetings. We have tried different approaches with our Gimlitxwit and each year we have made a few changes to try to bring more of the House groups in and to be accountable to their members.
2003/2004 was a very difficult year for the Simgiigyat. There were quite a few meetings where we felt we were just not going to move forward and disruptions continued to happen. At one point some of our Gimlitxwit members refused to attend because they were not comfortable being around such disruption. As the Coordinator I felt it was my responsibility to make changes so that our Simogyets would not have to endure and witness such negativity. I was faced with a big challenge to change directions and start implementing a positive atmosphere amongst our people.
I have taken advantage of my role as Chief Councillor and my role as the Simgiigyat's Coordinator to begin creating positive relationships with each other and all our Gitxsan organizations. So far we have been successful in doing this and I have continued to carry that forth into the planning of our 2005 Gitxsan Summit... hence, the theme "Reconciliation". We must begin working together and we must continue the new relationship with each of our Gitxsan organizations. I have talked to most of the Simgiigyat and have discussed with them my objective for the upcoming year. We must put our disagreements aside and start moving forward with a positive approach. It has been a tough journey, however I am positive that our issues will resolve and we will begin working together for 2006. Dim um dim will'im!

I am one of the daughters of the late Tsogoslee (Walter Wilson Sr.) and Dimdiigiibuu (Doris Wilson).
