Gitxsan Chiefs urge governments to establish a Special Prosecutors Office to prosecute crimes relating to aboriginal people
Gitxsan Territories: The Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs propose that the provincial and federal justice departments separately or jointly establish a Special Prosecutions Branch for the prosecution of crimes relating to Aboriginal people, and that the Branch employ native-speaking investigators (in the case of the Gitxsan, from each clan) so that investigations can be done, if necessary, in the language spoken by the victims and accused persons.
